 In September 2005, I moved back to Detroit after being away for five years first at college, and then living and working in Chicago. When I returned, I found that I pretty much had to start from scratch in terms of learning my way around town and meeting new friends. It was harder than it needed to be. I quickly saw the need and the exciting opportunity to connect young people to each other and to the community more easily and positively, whether they are moving into town for the first time, returning after college or work experience elsewhere, or have lived here forever. And that is how After 5 Detroit was born
The mission of After 5 Detroit is to get young people really excited about living in this area -- we connect you to the best that metro Detroit has to offer. Our web-site is updated regularly to highlight an eclectic variety of events, destinations and fun information that will make living, working and playing in Detroit even more enjoyable.
After 5 continues to expand and evolve, in direct response to the feedback we receive from our loyal readers and local businesses. We recently launched the Connect After 5 Program, which provides unique after work experiences for Detroit area companies and their employees.
It's up to us to make Detroit the place we want it to be. So share your favorites and support the events, the places and the people you love. Meet new people. Try new things. Get involved!
