Alright guys, summer is finally here which means it's time to hit the lake, do some wake boarding and wow the ladies with your killer abs in a bathing suit.
You may not realize it but there are just as many options for men in the bathing suit arena as there are for women and picking the right suit for you could make or break picking up the right girl.
Most of us know that the Speedo should be used for swim competition purposes only but more and more guys are attempting to wear its slightly less revealing cousin. These boxer brief like suits are still way too clingy for the average guy and take it from us- the ladies aren't fans! Unless you've actually been offered a billboard pose in Times Square in your underwear you can't pull this look off so don't try.
Board shorts have been tried and true for many years now offering up comfort and a hint of surfer style but did you know that they come in multiple lengths? When buying this season's suit you've got to be sure to try it on before testing it at the beach. If you buy one that's too short you'll look like your dad did in 1987. If you buy one that's too long you'll look like a 10 year old. Take time out and try it on!
Although you can always get away with crazy fabrics when it comes to bathing suits steer clear of anything that may cause a seizure. The classic Hawaiian style flower prints are still big and remain pretty timeless. However, if you don't actually know how to surf don't plaster your lower half with words like "Quicksilver" and "Billabong" you'll just look like a poser.
And even though as a man you're lucky enough to be able to pull off wearing a bathing suit as shorts out to dinner without getting kicked out don't do it. Change into a regular pair of shorts and leave the quick dry material at the beach.
If you don't want to look like you and your best friend bought your suits together stay away from places like Old Navy and Pac Sun. Check out TWC in Keego Harbor. This surf shop offers up a ton of great styles and brands sure to impress when you hit the beach.
