Geftaki's Hot Style
Locally owned, nationally known. Geftaki swimwear has made quite a name for itself. Fans of the eclectic line include Paris Hilton who donned a Geftaki design in her infamous I'm Running for President sketch on funnyordie.com.
Geftaki was started by its designer, native Detroiter, Trisha Geftos. The road to Trisha's success is a unique one.
Trisha moved to L.A. after college to pursue acting and modeling. She decided it wasn't really for her. However, through modeling she found a love for clothing and wanted to try the design side. So she started dabbling in design while living in L.A.
In 2004 she moved back to Detroit so that she could get the help and support of her family and get her business off the ground. Her sister, Keri, handles all of her marketing and public relations for Geftaki.
Geftos chose swimwear because she always loved vacationing warm places. Trisha's father owns a jewelry store in Southgate. That's what gave her love for jewels, sequence and sparkle which has become a staple in her swimwear line.
Trisha took samples of her line to local stores to test out when she started the line, "Local stores were very open and receptive to trying my line because I'm a local designer," said Geftos and the rest is history.
The line has been received very well and is growing quite rapidly. Geftaki is manufactured in L.A. and sold in boutiques out there as well so Trisha travels to L.A. often to supervise the production. You can find Geftaki swimwear at several boutiques in the area including Essence in West Bloomfield, Poshh in Ann Arbor and Saks Fifth Avenue or visit www.geftaki.com
