The desire to be fashion forward in a world of seven hundred dollar Manolo's and endless trends surfacing daily can be exhausting. For anyone who is familiar with this lifestyle, there are ways around the day-to-day hunt for the newest, hottest piece.
Out of our very own downtown Detroit Eastern Market district, husband and wife duo, Courtney and Philip Mason, have launched Studio Jellyfish, a website offering a line of what is referred to as "Walking Art".
With a strong devotion to art and design, this couple first came up with a line of hand-painted high heels for women. They start by using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to design and illustrate their piece, then paint the digital picture directly on the shoe with oil-based paint to ensure that the image stays on forever.
The Mason's background in illustrating, painting and extensive digital work inspired them to find an outlet for their love of art. While most of what they do stays digital, they were interested in creating tangible pieces of art and found the perfect opportunity using shoes as their canvas.
Having always loved fashion, Courtney felt that it was important to give women an alternative to plain heels. The idea behind the colorful shoes is to make women feel confident and sexy, while showing off their individuality.
Studio Jellyfish heels can be purchased on their website at www.StudioJellyfish.com as well as www.Etsy.com/shop/StudioJellyfish. Check out their site for updates on the "Walking Art" line as well as an upcoming clothing line.
