Travel Just Got Sweeter
Getting out of town just got a little easier thanks to the opening of the brand new North Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

The highly anticipated, state of the art new terminal, which opens for passengers in mid-September boasts incredible amenities, a hip vibe and efficient services designed to make your pre and post flight time a little more fun.

Early morning travelers can perk up with not one but several coffee options including Coffee Beanery and Caribou Coffee.

For those hungry for some great food and drinks prior to boarding you can fuel up at the first and only Hockeytown Cafe in an airport, Cheeburger Cheeburger or Champps Americana among the many choices.

The layout is linear and convenient making it easy to navigate regardless of whether you're heading to your gate or to baggage claim.

The decor is hip, inviting and trendy giving an urban loft like feel and sending a message to out of towners of a chic downtown vibe- a perfect introduction to the D and all it has to offer.

With the opening of this terminal Metro has advanced to one of the most state of the art airport facilities in the country. The combination of the North Terminal and the MacNamara Terminal allow passengers a top notch airport experience regardless of what airline they're flying.

In addition to the amenities, the creation of the North Terminal has created new jobs for Metro Detroiters and the fact that they are going to be selling the naming rights for the terminal will in the long term create financial savings for travelers in Detroit.

To kick off the brand new terminal the Wayne County Airport Authority is offering a weekend of fun filled, sneak peek events.

It all starts tonight, Friday, September 5 with a charity gala to benefit local organizations including the Charles H. Wright Museum, Salvation Army and others.

Tickets range from $100-$400 and feature a strolling dinner, live entertainment, drinks and more.

On Saturday the terminal is hosting a Community Day which boasts tons of fun from entertainment, Rock Band tournaments, giveaways and more.

It's totally free and some of the prizes include a trip to Disney World and a plane load of gas in gas cards. The festivities take place from 1-5 p.m. Stop by, check it out and start to get excited about the next time you fly!
