Can You Have Your Friend and His Ex?
Going after a friend's ex will always be a touchy subject, no matter what you do or say. Is it ever a good idea to go after a friend's ex? Well, it really all depends on your friend, and how the two parted ways. Let's make some rules before anyone ever tries to make a move on your friend's ex.
Guy Rule #1: Always ask your friend before you attempt to make the move on his ex. If you and your buddy are good friends then you should never go behind his back. If he says 'yes', then by all means knock yourself out, but if the answer is 'no' then you should probably not try anything. Don't lose a good friendship over one girl.
Guy Rule #2: If the two are currently not speaking to each other, then it's best to stay away from the girl. It's obvious that they hate each other and you might not want to get in the middle of them. Think about it, if you start dating her, she already hates your buddy and he hates her. You can never have them both in the same room together making it a difficult decision when it comes to figuring out who you will hang out with on certain nights.
Guy Rule #3: If you ask and get the go ahead to date her, it's fair game! He said 'yes' so go for it. Just beware; they broke up for a reason. Hopefully your game is better than your buddy's.
Just make sure that your friend is okay with you dating his ex. Don't be that guy who goes after girls who have recently ended a relationship, especially with a friend. Just be careful is my advice because if you go behind your buddy's back and betray a great friendship you may eventually lose both the girl and your friend.
