Football season is ready to kick off so where are you going to watch the big game? Especially if you haven't bought that new state of the art television set. Here is a list of some of our favorite places to watch the Spartans, Wolverines and Lions conquer their opponents.
Rosie O'Gradys- Ferndale
Rosie O' Gradys offers a great selection of televisions tailored to any big game. Located at 175 W. Troy in Ferndale, Rosie O' Gradys is already gearing up for football season. On college football Saturdays, they offer $2.99 burgers. On NFL Sunday, they offer $7.99 half slab dinner and karaoke. And on Monday Night Football, they offer half-off pizzas and $2.00 Bud Light.
Doc's- Livonia
As soon as you enter Doc's, it is like you died and went to sports heaven. The very attractive waitresses are dressed in referee outfits and there are more televisions than Best Buy. Located off of seven mile and I-275, Doc's has over 70 televisions and 24 beers on tap. They have a large menu with just about anything to order from a bar.
Penn Bar and Grill- Plymouth
Located in Downtown Plymouth, Penn Bar and Grill is a smaller venue but this gives it more character.Any given Saturday, you are bound to find a great mixture of Spartan and Wolverine faithfuls cheering on their teams. The bar has four large television sets that are always turned to the most local and biggest sporting events. The wait staff will even change the channel to the Auburn-Louisiana Monroe game if they are asked to. They offer a decent menu with many bar favorites. Their Coney dogs and Philly cheese steak are to die for.
Cheli's Chili Bar-Detroit/Dearborn
Whether it is the Dearborn or Detroit location, Cheli's has what you are looking for. Owned by Detroit Red Wing Chris Chelios, the restaurants are filled with all types of sports memorabilia. They also have many televisions to watch the big game. What better place to watch Michigan State vs. Notre Dame or the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay than in the heart of Detroit.
Bookies Downtown Tavern- Detroit
Known as the place that was voted Best Place To Go Before and After a Game by Real Detroit, Bookies offers 15 bars on tap as well as Michigan's seasonal beers. They have an array of televisions to watch the big game as well. Their menu is stocked with all bar favorites at very reasonable prices.
Vivio's- Detroit
Located in the heart of Eastern Market, the parking lot outside of Vivio's is the ultimate tailgate destination for Lions fans. Get there early for a party you won't believe on a Sunday morning. Not going to the game? Head into Vivio's and watch it barside over incredible food and bloody marys.

The Riv
- East Lansing
If you can't score tickets to the Ohio State at Michigan State game later this fall but want to be a part of the game day atmosphere what better place to do this than in East Lansing. The Riv is a local college favorite with many flat screen television sets and Spartan memorabilia on the walls. The waitresses are some of Michigan State University's finest and their drink specials are very reasonable. Enjoy a $2 dollar mug of Labatt and sing the fight song with many faithful Spartan students and alums.
The Brown Jug- Ann Arbor
If you want to tailgate in Ann Arbor for the game at the Big House but can't score tickets to the game then head over to The Brown Jug. They have a wide selection of televisions and a large selection of Wolverine memorabilia. After the game, you might even spot a few of the players hanging out as well.
