Pop Sensation!
Dating back to the 1980s, the popped collar look seems to have made a come back in the twenty first century. Sported on the polo shirt, there are two ways to look at this fashion phenomenon:
The anti-popped collar personalities: People who fall into this group absolutely hate this look and see the popped collar as a joke. They claim that popped collars are for 'posers' and for the people who are trying to act 'cool'. What's the point, it doesn't look right? Those who fall into this category usually crack a joke about those who pop the collar but that's only because they don't understand why people do it.
Those who approve of the popped collar: These people defend their look as a new innovative way to wear the polo and a way to show that they care about their looks. They don't just put on the shirt when they go out on the town; they pop that collar for a little more excitement. They're not trying to prove anything; it's just something that they feel is 'right'.
You either like it or you don't but there's no doubt the look is in style. No matter what group you're in, don't be so judgmental about others. The poppers and non poppers can live in harmony.
My only advice to those who pop their color -- not everyone can actually pull off this look, so if your friends are telling you that the popped collar is not you, listen to them.
But if you look good with this retro preppy style, then by all means use that pop factor to your advantage.
