Go Out and Play!
So it's Saturday night and it's the same-old thing going on. You've been to the club the last five weekends in a row, but staying in sounds pretty dull.
Need a suggestion of something fun, different and inexpensive? Then head to Play Date Detroit this Saturday, January 10.
What is Play Date? It's a way for people to interact and have fun in a unique way, by playing games. Yes, games. Those classic games that we loved as kids are here again. Enjoy music, food, drinks and competition while meeting new people or catching up with old friends.
Whether you're single, in a relationship or just wanting to network, this is a great way to do something fun in our community.
What kind of games will be there? A ton! Including classic favorites such as Chess, UNO, Twister, card games, group games, video games, Simon Says, Limbo, Musical Chairs and much more!
Deb Olsen attended the inaugural Play Date Detroit in December and had a blast! "My husband and I are always trying to find things to do that are not bar nights, expensive clubs, or smoky places. We love board games and are very competitive with each other, so this sounded perfect!" she said. "A friend of ours had tried Play Date in Washington DC and told us he had a blast, so we thought we'd give it a try."
Once Deb and her husband got there they had a great time and can't wait to attend another one, "Coming back to work on Monday and telling people what we did got me laughing all over again.... have you ever told someone on Monday that you played Musical Chairs, or Pictionary with total strangers on a Saturday night?" she said.
While you're rolling the dice you'll meet people from all walks of life, race, education, and background who have come together for a good time and some friendly competition. Play Date has been traveling around the country to various cities and it's Detroit turn to have fun and play a little with monthly events happening in town.
Make sure to check it out, what do you have to lose? Well maybe your title of Chinese Checkers Champion '91 but it's worth it. The games begin, Saturday, January 10, from 8:00 p.m. - 2 a.m. at the Morning News Cafe (in the Penobscot Building) , 645 Griswold Street Suite 25, Detroit. The cost is only $10!
