One thing can always be said for true Detroiters. We have a ton of pride in our city and we love to show it!

Now we can 'represent' in a fun creative way thanks to City Bird founders and designers Emily and Andy Linn.

The brother and sister team has created a line of whimsical and fun pieces that range from jewelry to tote bags to plates.

Since its launch in 2005 City Bird has quickly made a splash on the scene as a must hit line for all the Detroit lovers on your holiday list.

The duo grew up in the city and developed their creative talents and a love for Detroit at an early age. "Detroit has such a rich historic culture. There are a lot of treasures from the 20s and 30s here," said Andy.

They knew that despite the number of people who leave Detroit to experience other cities there is still an underlying love for the place they called home. "There's a lot of 'homesick' potential," said Emily. "People from all over the country miss Detroit."

Their products range far beyond your average t-shirt. City Bird offers unique gift cards featuring Detroit landmarks, jewelry, clocks and more. They are about to release a line of tote bags featuring some famous faces affiliated with Detroit such as Joe Louis and Harry Houdini.

Emily and Andy credit a lot of their success to the strong sense of community there is in the Detroit area. One such influence that they sing praises of is Claire Nelson at Bureau who both Andy and Emily said has been extremely instrumental in helping them along. They also thank their mother for her creative spirit and influence from an early age. The name City Bird is an homage to her.

City Bird products can be found at a number of local boutiques. For a full list click here. Items can also be purchased on the City Bird website. Also be sure to look for them at upcoming events such as the Hand Made Detroit Holiday Bazaar at the Majestic, the War Memorial Holiday Mart and more.
