Be Sassy not Sleezy
Lindsay Lohan's character Cady Heron had it right in the movie "Mean Girls."

"Halloween is the one night a year where a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can talk about her."
If you go to almost any adult Halloween party, you'll see that it really has come to that. Nowadays, if a girl wears a set of animal ears along with any lingerie, she has the perfect costume.

Let's help break this naughty trend. We've seen enough school girls to fill every classroom at NYU, enough Playboy bunnies to circle Hefner's mansion... twice, and we certainly know where to find a French maid if our house is getting a little dirty. What happened to showing up with the most unique costume at a party? Here are a few ideas that are easy to throw together while still looking unique and cute, and keeping your dignity.

Everyone loves a Flapper girl, and Flapper dresses are very easy to find. They sell them at almost every Halloween and costume store, and online you'll find millions along with the cute shoes and boas to match. They come in almost every color and style and you'll look classy and original without worrying about pulling a Paris, Lindsay or Britney when you get out of the car.

If you're going with a group or as a couple, there are tons of original ideas out there that don't require buying a costume. Dress up as a hot celebrity couple, such as Brad and Angelina. Strap some Cabbage Patch Kids in an infant carrier and you've got the whole family! How about Britney and K Fed? They may be divorced, but you'll still look like a freak show.

If you're going with a group of friends, dress up as the Spice Girls or NSYNC... everyone will know who you are. You could even go all the way back to the elementary school days and dress up as Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers... everyone loves them!

Looking to bring out some controversy? Find a politician mask.

People will know who you are and whether they like the person or not, get a laugh out of it. There are tons of Bush, Clinton and Kerry masks out there, even Mark Foley. Tape some toilet paper to your foot for that one and you're good to go!

If you just want to look super unique and create a crazy, off the wall costume that you know NO ONE will have, walk through Toys R Us and find a weird toy that would be easy to make into a costume. Some ideas are a Barrel o' Monkeys (real monkeys are not recommended), the Stay Pufft Marshmallow Man from "Ghostbusters," or a Cabbage Patch Kid.

You can even go simple... just pin some socks, underwear and pantyhose to your clothes and go as static cling. Wear a cardboard sign that says "I have a bladder control problem" and everyone will immediately think of the Detrol commercial and crack up.
