Just because we live in Michigan and have a 5 month winter doesn't mean you have to put fashion on hold. Cute shoes aren't limited to the short summer months, and yes, it's possible to tread through the ice in sexy shoes without skinning your knees!
If you have a big interview and you want to look stylish and professional, thank Michael Kors. He's designed the Winter Warrior Pump, loaded with style and confidence. The lace up front is cute without being little girl-ish, and the shape keeps your feet in place so you don't have to worry about slipping out. The bottom has a thick rubber sole with a discreet grip so it's possible to walk on ice without spiking and chaining your shoes beforehand. They can be found at most department stores for about $129.
Michael didn't stop there. He also designed the MICHAEL Michael Kors Fairbanks High Belted Clog. These shoes put some edge to the standard clog shoe with a high heel that is thick enough to be winter safe. Again, they're made with a thick sole and enough grip to be safe on the ice. These are very versatile and can be dressed up or down.
The fur around the edges and the suede material keep your feet cozy warm. These can be found for about $100-130.
The DKNY collection prepares you for winter with the Gwen clog, which is perfect for the winter months. The cute wooden wedge heel with a rubber sole is thick enough to walk through snow or ice without taking a spill. The leather lining keeps your foot in place so you won't slip out and your feet will stay warm. These can be found at most department stores for under $100.
It's not difficult to find shoes appropriate for walking in bad weather, just be sure to find a thick rubber sole and grippers to prevent you from spilling over the sidewalk. Stay away from stilettos, the tiny heel is winter weather suicide. Thicker and chunkier heels are much more ideal.
It's always smart to invest in a pair of UGG boots if you absolutely have to wear risky shoes. Change your shoes once you reach your destination. I guarantee you will thank me when you walk in with dry feet and clean shoes, as well as no broken heels...or legs.
