What better way to kick off the spring than with restaurant openings, specialty coffee and even something special for your dog? Read on for openings and announcements coming to the Detroit area this Spring.
Detroit’s old Italian restaurant, La Lanterna, is headed back to the city, and this time it’s heading for the Albert for a highly anticipated revival. The Da Edoardo group plans to open La Lanterna’s doors in early March with a menu full of pizza, pasta, sandwiches, entrees, a full bar and delivery in the Downtown and Midtown areas.

Everybody’s favorite shawarma spot is about to open their fourth location, making their menu even more available to Detroiters throughout the city limits. The fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant chain will open in Detroit’s Avenue of Fashion area and offer the same handmade and traditional dishes that we all know and love. Bucharest has locations in Corktown, Rivertown and New Center. There’s no exact open date yet but Bucharest’s Facebook said the fourth location is “progressing nicely”.

Dog and cat owners now have the opportunity to shop Downtown at the new City Bark location, which opened Feb. 24, inside of the Albert in Capitol Park. The store is pet-friendly and offers 15 different types of dog and cat food, a freezer section for raw bones and pet treats, pet owner education classes, vaccination clinics, grooming services, training and more. The Downtown City Bark also plans to host adoption events regularly.

New Order Coffee
This spring, New Order Coffee will offer nitro cold brew, marshmallow lattes, handcrafted espresso and much more for Midtown-ers. Detroit will get an exclusive look at Modbar’s pour over coffee system and a Synesso MVP Hydra espresso machine, to accompany the sweet and savory pastries that will be available for dunking.

Live Cycle Delight
In late March, Amina Daniels, a Detroit native and the most recent Hatch Detroit winner, is opening up her fitness center, Live Cycle Delight in West Village. The fitness center will feature classes in cycling, weight training, TRX and yoga. Live Cycle Delight will also have a juice and superfood bar called Fresh 101.

The modern bohemian boutique, Bird Bee, will open later this spring with women’s clothing, accessories, jewelry and lifestyle goods.

The popular sports retailer, Under Armour, will open up shop near Nike on Woodward Avenue this spring. The Detroit shop will be a “Brand House” location and offer top-end sports apparel for Detroiters to enjoy.

Maccabees Traders, the old Maccabee’s Midtown, is getting a new name, a new look and a new menu this Spring. The chef will cook up vernors-glazed pork belly and Vietnamese fish-sauce chicken wings, shrimp bahn mi, jasmine rice dumpling soup and more. The new menu has Asian influences and you’re able to order sharables, salads, sandwiches and more, including a full bar and a late-night menu. Maccabees Traders opens on March 6.

North End Collective
North End Collective is a new retail space, with four units, stationed in Detroit’s New Center. The four spaces are fully furnished and functioning for different startups and small businesses to utilize and showcase their work. For 2017, the four businesses that make up the North End Collective are Live Coal Gallery, Purple Love, United Front and The Traveling Pants Co.

Detroit Grooming Co.
Ferndale’s Detroit Grooming Co. barbershop is about to extend its services and products to Corktown. Their original product line will be available, in addition to their famous barber services, all inside of a space decorated with barbershop antiques from the 20s and 30s. Detroit Grooming Co.’s new location is projecting a spring opening.

Gather Detroit is about ready to open their doors in Eastern Market with big plates to share and a place to mix and mingle with the community. In addition to the neighborhood feel, Gather will cook dishes over a fire, so that the comfortable philosophy is even comfier. They project a March opening.
