GUIDE TO MO POP FESTIVAL
It’s a festival we’ve come to know and love in a quick few years and this year, Mo Pop Festival celebrates its fifth summer of showcasing huge artists and entertaining the masses through food, drink, and experiences unlike any other.
This year, the festival is headlined by Run The Jewels, Solange, ALT-J and Foster The People, and and each of the weekend’s acts will perform on one of two stages at West Riverfront Park on July 29 and 30.
Tyler the Creator, Phantogram, Vance Joy, Wavves, Aminé, Pvris, Arkells, Pup, the Hunna, Mondo Cozmo, Jay Som, The Shadowboxers, White Reaper, Stef Chura, Heaters, Humons and Michigan’s own Michigander are also part of the Mo Pop lineup.
The festival celebrates ingenuity, craft and creative expression, which is not only seen in the music acts, but the other features of the festival, like the famous Food Truck Rally Alley, Craft Bazar, Tech Tent and Mo Pop Arcade.

Hero or Villain- sandwiches with a villain spin
The Detroit Pop Shop- gourmet popsicles
Los Dos Amigos- Mexican food from southwest Detroit
The Mean Weenie- gourmet twists on the all-American hot dog
Nu Deli- deli classics with an Indian twist
Rollin Stone- wood fired pizzas
The Rolling Stoves- fried pickles, burgers
Taste and Tell- Detroit soul food
Treat Dreams- homemade ice cream
Pita Post- pita sandwiches of all kinds
Mac Shack- all kinds of gooey mac and cheese
Back again this year with an assortment of handmade goods from a dozen of Metro Detroit’s most talented crafts people, like Glass Action, Grammar, Handmade Detroit, Cool Critters, Boonie Patch Co., The Science Bee, Outer Spaceways Apparel and more.
Showcases and explores some of the area’s hacker spaces, artists, start-ups and inventors.
MO POP ARCADE
Mo Pop and Detroit’s Offworld Arcade built an air conditioned tent with original and classic arcade games with high score contests, prizes, drinks and local DJs.
NEW THIS YEAR – THE SHIPYARD
Looking for more to eat and drink? Who isn’t? The Sugar House Pop-Up and the Shipyard feature Imperial, Slows, Griffin Claw Brewing Co., Blake’s Hard Ciders and more to enhance the eating and drinking experience for all Mo Pop goers.
ADDITIONAL STAGE – SCHOOL OF ROCK STAGE
The School of Rock AllStars will perform throughout the weekend on their own stage. The group represents a bunch of dedicated students from the global network of schools in School of Rock, and each summer they embark on a tour all over the USA.
*Children 12 years and younger receive complimentary admission WITH a paid ticket holder, courtesy of the School of Rock.
Mo Pop goers will also have the opportunity to practice yoga with Citizen Yoga, with an open session on the 29 and 30 from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. The Detroit Dart Club will also provide games and entertainment throughout the weekend and Ink Addict will showcase live painting and give out temporary tattoos.
