JOLLY PUMPKIN AND BASTONE BREWERY OPEN SHARED SPACE

JOLLY PUMPKIN AND BASTONE BREWERY OPEN SHARED SPACE

What’s better than a brewery? Two breweries under one roof. On August 8, 2017, Bastone Brewery and Jolly Pumpkin open their shared restaurant and taphouse space in downtown Royal Oak.

Jolly Pumpkin and Bastone Brewery have been supporting one another since 2004, so their idea for a collaboration space on Main Street in Royal Oak has been brewing for some time. Both breweries share the same entrance and hostess stand, but have separate dining rooms for the two establishments’ different menus. Good news for everyone- they share the same bar, so you can get whatever beer you’d like no matter where you are inside or on the patio.

The Jolly Pumpkin menu is packed with favorites like their Fire & Smoke Pizza and their Margherita Pizza, in addition to their hearty salads and tasty sandwiches like their Perfect Fried Chicken Sandwich with turmeric aioli and their Whitefish & Crab Burger, topped with little gem lettuce, lime, cilantro, ginger-pickled veggies, and lemongrass aioli. Their brunch menu also offers dishes like Corned Beef Hash, Cinnamon Raisin French Toast, their Breakfast Burrito and their Breakfast Arepas, which is made with griddled corn cakes, sweet cream cheese, and marinated grilled pineapple.

Bastone Brewery’s main menu includes the Belgian Blue Burger, which is made with a famous Belgian Blue patty and on an Avalon challah roll with lettuce, tomato and choices of other tasty additions. Their menu also includes a Salmon BLT, Chicken Waffle Sandwich, Fish & Chips, and their Brewery Steak, served with white cheddar potato pancakes, crisp bacon and field greens.

Jolly Pumpkin’s dining space features an open floor plan that seats about 210 guests inside. They’ve also got a 40-seat seasonal patio and a round bar. The space is very much like the other Jolly Pumpkin locations in the way that earthy tones take over the space for a warm, inviting atmosphere. Bastone Brewery’s dining room seats about 60 inside and they have space for an additional 36 guests on their seasonal patio.

Now, about that beer. Both Jolly Pumpkin and Bastone Brewery specialize in Belgian-style beer, so beer lovers will bask in this collaboration with choices galore.

Check out a couple of each brewery’s beer offerings:

BASTONE

Monumental Blond- light American-style beer with soft malt and hop flavors

Witface- white, Belgian-style ale brewed with orange, lemon and coriander

Dubbel Vision- amber brewed Belgian-style with candi-sugar and dried dark fruits

Nectar Des Dieux Triple- strong golden Belgian-style ale with light fruity notes and a hint of sweetness

JOLLY PUMPKIN

Bam Bier- dry hopped farmhouse ale with spicy malts, hops and yeast

Bam Noire- dark, smooth year-round beer with notes of sweet plum and toasted raisin, hints of coffee and cacao

Calabaza Blanca- brewed in the Belgian Biere Blanche tradition with orange peel and coriander

And the beer of all beers, their collaboration brew called Co-Operation Ale, which is a fusion of the popular La Roja and Nectar des Deux, without the souring agents.

The restaurant and taphouse will also offer Nomad ciders on tap, a comprehensive wine list, specialty cocktails and domestic and import spirits.
