Miracle Pops Up at The Skip

Miracle Pops Up at The Skip

Christmas in the Belt got a bit cozier this year with a pop-up in one of downtown’s frequented watering holes, The Skip.

“We’re super excited to show the Skip off in the winter,” said Joe Robinson of The Skip. “A lot of people think we’re only open for the warmer months, but we’re now open year round. It really feels like a different place in the winter. It’s a lot more intimate and cozy.”

The pop-up called Miracle spreads cheer in cities all across the world this year, and it’ll be at the Skip until Christmas Eve. With Christmas lights, real balsam fir, winking Santa mugs, ice cubes that are actually snowballs of ice and drinks that taste like Christmas, Miracle is a must see.

The menu makes it easy by pricing each Christmas-y cocktail at $12. You can choose from a Snowball Old Fashioned made with gingerbread bourbon or you can go for the You’ll Shoot Your Rye Out cocktail made up of pumpkin-spiced rye whiskey, an egg and Budweiser-marshmallow syrup. Miracle’s menu also offer mulled wine and tawny port with orange liqueur.

Robinson said that the Skip’s normal menu isn’t available during this pop-up, but they did add some of their own touches by turning their Frozen Irish Coffee into a Frozen Peppermint Irish Coffee and their house Gin and Tonic is infused with cardamom and a fresh cranberry tonic for the season.

The best selling beverage so far has been the Snowball Old Fashioned and Robinson’s favorite is the Frozen Peppermint Irish Coffee.

Cocktail Kingdom is the group that brought The Skip the Miracle concept and menu and they went and made it Detroit’s own special stop.

You can find Miracle at The Skip down the Belt Alley, right off of Gratiot between Library and Broadway streets.
