Co-working spaces, rentable, shared office spaces, are a great way to find affordable space in the city and grow your network. Whether you work freelance or have a team, there are options for businesses of all variety. Throughout the summer, After 5 had the chance to visit a number of shared work spaces in Detroit, here’s what we found:
Bamboo – Detroit Original

Located in the Madison Building, and steps away from the booming Capitol Park district, Bamboo was one of the first co-working spaces in Detroit and its growth in recent years reflects the growing demand for office space downtown. The bright but serene setting is the perfect environment to be creative and keep your focus. Members have a variety of open office settings to work from, in addition to access to private work and conference rooms, there’s a communal kitchen, as well as WiFi and printing.

A new addition to the co-working scene, Synchronous is a hidden gem on the Detroit Riverfront. Techtown Detroit was founded nearly two decades ago by Wayne State University, Henry Ford Health System and General Motors as an entrepreneurship hub. The now independently operated co-working space remains deeply tied to Detroit’s movers and shakers and it’s the place to be if you’re in the engineering and tech business. Located near Wayne State University’s campus in New Center, Techtown is always buzzing with activity. Rent a desk or traditional office space, the five story building has plenty of space to accommodate its members.
