A Look Inside Ima Detroit

A Look Inside Ima Detroit

Ima is the Hidden gem of Corktown

Nestled into a brick and cinder block building in Corktown, Ima opened it’s doors in December, 2015.

The facade of this little restaurant is quite deceiving. When you step inside you are immediately transported to a kitchen in the streets of Japan where you are greeted by rich aromas wafting through the air and soft amber lighting. The open kitchen layout makes it so you can see the chefs artfully tossing and stirring as pans sizzle and steam rises from the pots. On weekends, crowds of patrons happily wait halfway outside the door for a table.

Ima offers a variety of udon noodle soups, rice bowls, curries and small plates.  Each dish is a work of art with expertly crafted flavors that warm the soul, from the decadent udon bowls to the shrimp gyoza – we suggest the spicy pork udon. Got a craving for comfort food on a Sunday night? Ima’s got you covered, they are one of the few restaurants that stay open until 10pm.

Ima also offers a selection of authentic japanese rice beers and Sake.

Find time to check out this amazing hidden gem for a delicious culinary experience.
