We’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of Axle Brewing Company’s flagship taproom, Livernois Tap, and we’ve got good news- the taproom opens in Ferndale on Saturday, June 3.

The taproom also functions as a brewery and restaurant, with the restaurant group Four Man Ladder leading the food menu. The Four Man Ladder group is also behind the popular Grey Ghost Detroit. The space is inspired by contemporary breweries and urban parks and it takes on the modern American interpretation of a good ol’ European beer hall.

Livernois Tap offers 12-15 brews that rotate with the seasons, in addition to ciders, and they’ll always have their flagship beers ready for you. Award-winning brewer Adam Berretta is behind the beverages at Livernois Tap and you’re able to get his concoctions to go in 32oz Crowlers. The taproom will also feature exclusive releases, in addition to Mother Handsome Double IPA, Livernois Lager, Long Cut IPA, City Pale Ale, London Strong Porter, Dual Citizen Cream Ale, Corduroy Brown Ale and 14th Amendment Kolsch.

Talented chefs Joe Giacomino and John Vermiglio, of Grey Ghost, are working alongside Reid Shipman, who formerly worked in Gold Cash Gold’s kitchen. Their menu features a Fried Bologna Corn Dog, Crispy Animal Parts, Buffalo Fried Green Tomatoes, snacks, vegetables, items from their cast iron, “stuff on bread”, desserts and sides.

Livernois Tap has plenty of seating, with a 65-seat beer garden, greenery and a giant fireplace, and a 30-seat bar and 80-seat dining room indoors. To make the place accessible to all kinds of kinds, they offer multiple bike racks, parking for strollers and even a bike repair station. Eventually, they’ll offer beer tastings, yoga classes, group bike rides and more.

As if all of the above didn’t entice you enough, we can’t forget about their Floats, which are made with Axle Brewing Co.’s beer and a rotating artisan ice cream.

The taproom is open every day of the week except Monday and they’re located at 567 Livernois Ave. in Ferndale.

Livernois Tap opens at 4 p.m. on June 3. Visit their website at axlebrewing.com and on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
