TONY HAWK TO LAUNCH WAYFINDING SKATE PARK DOWNTOWN

Remember the crazy halfpipe that was inside of the Fisher building earlier this year? George Leichtweis, the guy who designed it, artist Ryan McGinness, Tony Hawk, Bedrock, Library Street Collective and Cranbrook Art Museum came together to bring Detroit Wayfinding. Wayfinding is an art installation and skate park at Bedrock’s Monroe Blocks development, which is the area bounded by Randolph Street, Bates Street, Cadillac Square and Monroe Avenue.

NEW ORDER COFFEE HELPS WAKE UP MIDTOWN

New Order Coffee Roasters, a small batch coffee roasting spot, will help wake up Midtown on July 19 with whimsical drinks and sweet and savory treats.

DETROIT FLEAT DEBUTS IN FERNDALE

We’re used to waiting in line for our favorite food trucks at Eastern Market and in Campus Martius and then we watch the trucks roll away until next time. Now, with Detroit Fleat in Ferndale, a couple staple food trucks are there to stay at the area’s first food truck park and boozery. Detroit Fleat opens at 5 p.m. on July 7 on Nine Mile Road.

FORD’S GARAGE OPENS DEARBORN LOCATION

Ford’s Garage just opened their first Michigan location and we promise, the menu is as big as the name. The restaurant pays tribute to Henry Ford and the first one came out of Fort Myers, Florida in 2012, which is near where Henry Ford and Thomas Edison spent the winter months.

LA DULCE MOVES TO THE RIVERFRONT

The always delicious La Dulce made a big move from Royal Oak to the Detroit Riverfront this summer and now, the expanded restaurant is open for business.

ALLEY TACO EXPANDS IN MIDTOWN

What’s better than five tacos for $5 on Taco Tuesday? Five tacos for $5 on Taco Tuesday at Alley Taco’s new Midtown location. Alley Taco has moved and expanded to 418 W. Willis St.
