Annual Detroit Greek Independence Parade is a celebration Orthodoxy, Hellenism, and Freedom. Detroit/Windsor Metropolitan area is one of the strongest Hellenic communities across entire United States and Canada. We are proud of our heritage and of how we have shaped history in the Detroit area. The Parade offers us an opportunity to further grow our unique culture and keep it influential and alive.
At 1:00 p.m., head to the Atheneum Hotel to get photos in front of a huge parade backdrop, with colorful balloons and characters from the famous Big Head Corps (The Parade Company). Also, local dance groups in traditional costume will be on-hand, as well as members of the Evzones, a ceremonial guard unit in historic dress.
There are lots of places to go while you’re in Greektown and you can enter to win a giftcard to The Greek.
