Detroit Passport to the Arts: Firepower

In the depth of a Michigan winter, we invite you to visit the Detroit Repertory Theatre, tucked away in a neighborhood near Highland Park. The theatre is a gem that has been in business since 1957, and is known for its casting efforts to celebrate varying races, ethnicities and genders. The elegant venue offers a full bar, great homemade soup, and a secure parking lot to boot!

DP2A celebrates with the Detroit Repertory Theatre in offering a World Premiere play with Firepower, written by playwright Kermit Frazier. Frazier has had nearly 20 plays produced, spanning theaters in New York, Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, to name a few. He will add Detroit to his growing list of cities. Here is a brief description of the play to pique your interest:

With an important piece of legislation pending, treatment for a serious illness about to begin, and engagement to a woman half his age in the balance, a first-term African American City Councilman in Washington D.C. is visited by his two adult sons. Both sons carry long-held secrets that are destined to explode in their father’s face.
