Five will be the magic number for the next edition of Freep Film Festival.
Not only will it be the fifth year for the event, but the festival also will expand to five days.
Produced by the Detroit Free Press, the festival focuses on documentary films — many of them with strong connections to Detroit or Michigan. There are also related discussions, parties and other entertainment events. The bulk of them are held in downtown Detroit or nearby.
The festival will continue with its key venue partners in 2018, including the Detroit Film Theatre at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Fillmore Detroit, Cinema Detroit and Emagine Entertainment.
