Food Field is an urban farm on four acres in central Detroit. Since 2011, farmers Noah Link and Alex Bryan have worked to transform this abandoned elementary school site into a bountiful farm. Today, they grow all kinds of vegetables and tend a young orchard of 100+ fruit trees, over 50 laying hens, a pond of 500 catfish and bluegill, and hives of honeybees. Sarah Welch of Marrow is our chef. She has been named Detroit Chef of the Year and is not afraid of whole animal butchery. This was the first OITF event to sell out last year. It was also one of the best events of the year, and Sarah did an incredible job of sourcing almost 100% of the ingredients from farms right in the city. We can’t wait to see what she puts together this year.
