Guide to Cinco De Mayo in Southwest Detroit

Guide to Cinco De Mayo in Southwest Detroit

Fun fact: Cinco De Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862.

You can use that bit of trivia while sipping margaritas and chowing down on tamales this weekend. While plenty of places are having parties for Cinco De Mayo, there’s no better place to enjoy Mexican food than in Mexicantown. Take a trip to Southwest Detroit on Cinco De Mayo or wait till the 6th and watch the 54th Annual Cinco De Mayo Parade – it kicks off at noon from Patton Park and travels down Vernor Highway to Clark Park for a post-parade party.
