Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken hits Midtown

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken hits Midtown

Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, a restaurant that came from an idea of good food and community in Tennessee 60 years ago, finally opened its Detroit doors on Third Street.

The food, in its spicy and fried goodness, goes for $10 and under, for the most part. Menu starters include Fried Pickle Spears with ranch dressing, Fried Green Tomatoes and Fried Okra.

You can order menu items individually, such as a chicken breast, thigh, leg, wings or tender, or you can order plates and mix and match to your heart’s content. Baked beans, potato salad, fried okra, cole slaw, greens, seasoned fries, mac and cheese, whole jalapeno and more can be found on the sides portion of the menu.

And just as you think your taste buds have been satisfied, you’ll stumble across the dessert menu. Options on the dessert menu include pecan, chess, chocolate chess, sweet potato and old fashioned coconut pies. You can also order an IBC Root Beer Float.

The space, located at 4101 Third St., is about 3,000-square feet and it sits on the corner of West Alexandrine Street and Third Street. Gus’s has been welcoming the community even before their opening with a benefit event that supported the nonprofit Heart to Hart, which serves the homeless and needy in Detroit.

Stop in and try out the menu for yourself at 4101 Third St. and check out the full menu here.
