If you haven’t been to Hazel Park yet for the Detroit Free Press’ restaurant of the year, Mabel Gray, you now have another reason to head that way with the new neighborhood spot joebar.

Although the name joebar comes from wanting to be a spot for everyone, even the average Joe, the restaurant is far from average. Their menu is cooked up by Chef Courtney Witter, and the focus is heavy on hearty sandwiches for dipping in anything from pho to gumbo.

There are bar snacks, too, like fried pickles and chicken wings. The chicken wings pack a punch with honey garlic glaze and hot pepper relish, served with joebar’s homemade ranch dressing.

You’ll also see reasonable drink prices in the range of $2.50 to $10. The menu offers your favorite trusty beers, like Miller High Life and Molson, and homemade classic cocktails. They focus on community at joebar, so if you want to get beers big enough to share, they’ve got you covered.

You can treat yourself to a cream pie and a Jones Soda if your sweet tooth is talking to you, and save the HPBLT (made with bacon, roma tomatoes, avocado and ranch dressing) for another day. Or, why not have it all?

Visit the team at joebar at 23839 John R #1 and keep an eye on their Facebook for mouth watering photo updates.
