Kiesling Detroit Opens in Milwaukee Junction

Kiesling Detroit, Detroit’s newest cocktail bar in Milwaukee Junction, opens after a long awaited reveal.

Kiesling sits at the base of a renovated apartment building on the northwest corner of Milwaukee and Beaubien. The space previously operated as a general store, a saloon, a bar, and a cafe – there’s plenty of history weaved into the beams and showcased on the walls. Rich Perry and Carlo Liburdi discovered a mural hidden behind drywall and hired a preservationist to restore the stunning 1913 landscape. The naturalist painting is a focal point of the bar and sets the town for the modern-day hunters lounge aesthetic.

The new bar offers a range of cocktails including new spins on old favorites. A few highlights:

  • Stay Golden – Oolong tea infused vodka Maraschino, Allspice Dram, Averna, ginger, lemon, and tumeric
  • Mole Prieto – tequila, Mole Spiced Campari, and cocoa sweet vermouth
  • Toronto – bourbon, Coffee Infused Fernet Vallet, Montenegro, and Lapsang Souchong Syrup
  • Blood and Sand – scotch, Cherry Hearing, sweet vermouth, orange sherbet, lemon, and bitters

In addition to a season draft cocktail, you’ll find bottled and canned beers. Kielsing’s menu has something for all beer drinkers from Left Hand Brewing’s Nitro Milk Sout and Freigeist Pimock to Miller Highlife and Hamm’s. Wine lovers will also find a selection of red, white, and sparkling offerings.

This summer Kiesling will open an outdoor patio. In the meantime, order a drink, relax and enjoy Detroit’s newest neighborhood bar.
