O.W.L. Eatery Offers 24-HOUR Flavor to Woodward Avenue

Burgers, tacos, nachos, egg sandwiches and avocado toast can all be paired with a cup of homemade horchata, iced tea or lemonade alongside a gooey plate of poblano cheese-covered fries at Royal Oak’s new O.W.L eatery.

Woodward’s old Onion Roll Deli underwent a secret and significant transformation to become the new O.W.L. which is now open for business 24 hours a day (with the exception of a 10 p.m. close on Sunday evenings).

When you walk in the front door (there’s a small lot for parking outside of the eatery), you’re greeted by a graffiti-like wall lined with historic Woodward-area markers drawn in black paint. Two thin countertops face opposite each other with simple, wood-topped stools to sit on if you plan to dine in. Ravenous O.W.L. goers can also grab take out if that’s the preferred method.

As if the late night accessibility weren’t enough, the menu items are made quickly but freshly. The food takes on a Mexican/American/Diner Staple variety with plentiful sandwich options, like the Avocado Toast with Seared Ahi Tuna, or other favorites like the Three Tacos — del Dia with cilantro and onion.

The mouthwatering O.W.L. takes on the style of a modern-day diner with tight quarters and minimalistic decoration and simple menu. Hungry people can snag a menu, make their choices and order at the end of the counter. Horchata, fresh house lemonade and iced tea, bottled sodas, sparkling waters and more can quench your anticipation-thirst while you wait for your dish to be called out.

The menu also offers options like the Double Layer Nachos with poblano cheese sauce, Baconburger Sandwich, Chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich and Cilantro Potatoes and Texas Toast with eggs any style.

Stop in, stay awhile or just grab-n-go, but definitely make a stop and enjoy an upgraded version of fresh, fast food at 27302 Woodward Ave.
