Rocco's Italian Deli Brings A Slice of Italy to Midtown

Rocco’s Italian Deli Brings A Slice of Italy to Midtown

The long awaited Rocco’s Italian Deli opened Tuesday morning and closed early after selling out – not a bad first day.

The sandwich shop and counter deli hits all the right notes in the competitive restaurant landscape. Rocco’s is located on Cass just north of Martin Luther King and helps fill in in the Cass Corridor footprint. The area is seeing a lot of development but still offers free street parking so enjoy that while you can. Fortunately, when the City decides to install meters, you can find free parking in the lot next to and behind the building. The 2,000 square foot restaurant is spacious and offers plenty of room to comfortably wait to place your order and enjoy your meal. An outdoor patio is a bonus and the custom mural provides a nice selfie backdrop.

Rocco’s Italian Deli menu features sandwiches, salads and beverages ranging from coffee to cocktails. The classic Il Rocco was a customer favorite (and pictured below) and Little Puzzo Loves His Pork was a chef recommendation we’ll try next time. The spot is great for lunch but seeks to be an evening hangout too. The full service bar has beer on tap and in bottles and sells wine by the glass or bottle (there’s an $8 corking fee).

You can order a sandwich or find the ingredients to make your own at Rocco’s. The full-service deli sells meats and cheese to order at prices that compare to or beat local grocers. You can stock up on a variety of Italian ingredients for a home-cooked meal at a reasonable price. From polenta to pasta, Rocco’s supplements the grocery void downtown – something that will likely endear itself to local residents.

Rocco’s will continue with a soft open for the coming weeks before hosting a Grand Opening next month.
