SPRING IN CAMPUS MARTIUS PARK

SPRING IN CAMPUS MARTIUS PARK

As of last week, Campus Martius got a lot more exciting with the official spring debut of the Beach and the Lawn, which means we are one step closer to summer.

The Beach and the Lawn offer spacious and relaxing seating in the heart of the city with some of the coolest views in Detroit. You can stick your toes in the sand, lounge on the grass to some music or sit down at a table with some refreshments.

What can you do this spring at Campus Martius?

THE BEACH – a beach-like setting right in the heart of the city. You can stop here at lunchtime for a midday break or meet up with friends after work for a nice evening. HOURS: daily from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. *the furniture has been updated to IKEA’s 2017 collection

THE LAWN & TULIP GARDEN – it’s got some of the greenest grass in the city and the area is now surrounded by tulips, adding to the lawn’s charm. *the furniture has been updated to IKEA’s 2017 collection

DOWNTOWN STREET EATS – people look forward to it every year- a square of some of the best food vendors in metro Detroit. Vendors like The Rolling Stoves, Streetside Sushi, Smokering BBQ, Bombay Wraps and Monkey Business make up some of the 60+ vendors who rotate throughout Cadillac Square all season. HOURS: weekdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

THE FOUNTAIN DETROIT – last summer was the first time Campus Martius saw the Fountain- a shipping container that served up craft cocktails, beers, delicious food and more. They’re back this year with items we’ve grown to love, like their grilled paninis, burgers, salads, appetizers and grab-and-go items. Don’t forget about the frozen drinks when it heats up a bit. HOURS: Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-midnight; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

MUSIC – Campus Martius puts on a lunchtime entertainment series all summer long and it’s finally kicked off! You can enjoy Downtown Street Eats and the Fountain Detroit while listening to lively music and talented bands on the lawn or on the beach. HOURS: weekdays from noon-2 p.m. on two stages (Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square) through Oct. 13.

SPORTS ZONE  With four outdoor basketball courts and a sand volleyball area in Cadillac Square at Campus Martius, summer in Detroit offers even more than before. Everyone is invited to join pick-up games of volleyball or basketball for free from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Oct. 13.
