If you’re looking for the same ol’ same ol’, Urbanrest is not your place. If you’re looking for beer and kombucha flavors that are always rotating, food trucks to choose from and new friends that hand you glasses of beer, you’ve found it. Urbanrest Brewing Company opens Friday, June 30 in Ferndale.

Urbanrest is a small neighborhood brewery in Ferndale with a tasting room that dishes out charcuterie boards, beer and kombucha. The leading team is made up of Mary and Zach Typinski and Scott O’Keefe.

Each beer, typically open fermented Belgian and American type ales,  is brewed with extreme care, and the idea at Urbanrest is not to make the most beer possible, but to make some of the tastiest beer.

They’re not trying to mark themselves as the next big brewery, and right now, their lineup includes a few beers on tap. They don’t plan to distribute elsewhere at the get-go, with the exception of special events and a couple local accounts, and at the brewery they don’t have any bottles or cans, just a few kegs. They want to serve their neighbors first and keep their operations manageable and almost to perfection.

At their open, Urbanrest offers their Golden Ale, Pale Ale, India Pale Ale and Prince Junior Porter. You can also get each of those in a growler to go.

A pilsner malt with light candied melons on the nose, followed by sweet dough and a smooth finish.

PALE ALE- 5.6%
A hop-forward aroma with hints of tangerine citrus and bready malt with a snappy finish.

An IPA with restrained bitterness, soft yeast and a tangerine citrus and tropical fruit aroma with a velvety feel.

A porter made with English pale, chocolate, black malt and oats.

They’ll also have a mix of food trucks right outside the brewery most nights they’re open to keep their friends full and happy.

Opening weekend hours: Friday, 4 p.m. to 12 am., Saturday, 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
