The Boston-based burger chain, Wahlburgers, opened up shop in Greektown in mid-August and since the opening, the two-story eatery has been able to draw a crowd…and line…every day. Wahlburgers was founded by actor Mark Wahlberg and his two brothers, Donnie and Paul.

The brothers grew up watching their dad cook his barbeque on the grill and now, with locations across the United States, Wahlburgers offers guests a tremendous menu, stocked with entrees for everyone.

The Detroit location is the first one in Michigan and as you walk in the door, you’re greeted by bright lights, signature-Wahlburger-green chairs along the bar and limited seating alongside the windows and toward the back. There’s a staircase straight ahead, that leads to more seating, another bar and more opportunity to catch a live game or replay. Large, family photos are posted around the interior of the restaurant to give it a welcoming vibe and family feel.

The menu includes hearty options like The Melt, a burger served between thick bread, grilled cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, homemade pickles and mustard sauce, and Mom’s Sloppy Joe, an open faced sandwich served on thick sliced griddled bread, covered in homemade sloppy joe and topped with crispy onions and Paul’s signature wahl and cheese sauce. Crispy onion rings, tater tots, sweet potato tots and more are available alongside your monster of a meal. Those interested in lighter fare can opt for salads like The Classic, Caesar Salad or the Chopped Salad Bowl. Kids are able to order from their own portion of the menu, The SmahlBurgs, with choices like Grilled Cheese, the Smahlburger, Chicken Fingers and more. Guests can also cool down with housemade frappes or special Wahlburger’s floats.

The restaurant is equipped with a full bar and Michigan favorite beers. plus domestic favorites. The space in Greektown is open daily for lunch and dinner, dine-in or take out.

The busy new joint is located at 569 Monroe St. Visit wahlburgersrestaurant.com to view the menu in full and read up on the family story. Check out the team on Facebook and stay up to date here.
