Willis Show Bar Revival in Midtown

Willis Show Bar Revival in Midtown

A lot has been happening on Third Street but nothing quite like this, Willis Show Bar is bringing something old to new Detroit.

The doors have been shuttered for nearly 40 years but back in the day, Third Street was full of jazz clubs and cabaret bars. The new owners are looking to take the neighborhood back to when people would come for a jazz or blues show, enjoy drinks and company, and relax.

Willis Show Bar will have live musical and comedy guests nightly burlesque performances, and a house band. Enjoy the show while sipping on classic libations like, a Martini with a Sidecar, Manhattans & French 75. Behind the bar, you can expect a big focus on champagne and sparkling wine, and punches for friends to share. The drinks are set to be priced from $12-15. There’s no kitchen, but there are a selection of bar snacks.

Guests are encouraged to gussy up and make reservations. The bar has approximately 90 seats inside, including 28 along the curvy bar, and they’ll fill up quick. Since show bar is in the name, each seat makes it easy to see the stage.

The building is heavy in history and it’s something the owners value. Even though the sound system and interior are new and fresh, the concept pays tribute to a simpler time.
